Study information

  • Research Area: COVID-19
  • Research type: This will be a Mixed retrospective and prospective study The first phase will be the retrospective in which the records of patients with confirmed COVID19 will be reviewed and documented from March 14th, 2020.
  • Start date: Apr 10, 2020
  • End date: Apr 10, 2022

Study aim of the objectives

Our study aims to determine the genetic pattern and diversity of severe coronavirus infection in infected patients in Rwanda. More significantly, this study will provide understanding of the outbreak evolution in Rwanda and observing transmission dynamics through building phylogenetic trees. Amongst the response strategies, there is a need to focus on vaccine development for COVID-19 globally as a solution to the crisis. Therefore, the study will provide vaccine targets by performing epitope predictions.
