Study aim of the objectives

Overall objective:
To assess the magnitude of risk factors of selected non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the Rwandan Population using WHO Stepwise approach to NCDs risk factors surveillance.

Specific objectives:
- To assess the distribution of lifestyle factors (physical inactivity, tobacco and alcohol use, and anthropometric measurements (body mass index and central obesity) which may impact diabetes, cardiovascular risk factors, and injuries;
- To identify dietary practices which are risk factors for selected NCDs;
- To determine the prevalence of hypertension, diabetes, raised cholesterol, albuminuria, asthma, and injuries;
- To provide reliable and up-to-date information on NCDs risk factors for planning and evaluating public health initiatives, and for identifying future demands for health services in managing and treating NCDs.

Impact on Policy
