Nadine Karema
Nadine Karema is the current Executive Director of Partners In Health in Rwanda/Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB) as of November 6th. Nadine joined PIH/IMB in 2013 and has held different positions as Health Information Systems (HIS) Manager, HIS Director, Informatics Director, Chief Informatics Officer, and recently as the Deputy Executive Director. Nadine’s focus over the years has been on digital transformation, systems improvements, and strategic use of data for decisions aimed at better patient outcomes and socio-economic empowerment of vulnerable communities served by PIH/IMB. Besides her involvement at PIH/IMB, Nadine has supported the University of Global Health Equity Executive Education program as a Digital Health expert and Leadership instructor. She has also provided technical assistance to the Rwanda Ministry of Health (MOH) as the PIH/IMB focal point within the Digital Health Technical Work Group and as the Rwanda health sector NGOs co-chair of the National e-Learning Committee. Nadine mentors young women in Rwanda and performs guest speaker engagements at local universities educating the next generation of African tech leaders and innovators. She holds an MBA in International Business and Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and Technology. Prior to joining PIH/IMB, Nadine worked in various positions at the University of California-San Diego. She also taught undergraduate courses in Business and Computer Programming in California career colleges.
