Dr. Telesphore Ndabamenye

Dr Telesphore Ndabamenye is appointed as Director General of Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) since 2nd March 2023. Before this position, he served as Africa Regional Platform manager for Africa’s Food Systems Transformation for Food Action Alliance under the World Economic Forum, and Senior Advisor for Food Systems Transformation Agenda towards 2030 SDGs Agenda.

Among other posts held, he served as Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources of Rwanda and worked as Government Senior manager at the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board [RAB], in the capacities of Head of Department of Crop Production and Food Security, Deputy Director General of Infrastructure and Mechanization, Acting Deputy Director General of Agriculture Extension, associate researcher in Agroforestry and National Coordinator of Rwanda Bioversity International Project.

He served as Chair of Board of Directors of Rwanda Environment Management Authority [REMA] and Chair of Nyamasheke District Council. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Soil Science (Soil science and Plant Nutrition), a MSc degree in Soil Science (soil quality and biological soil quality) and BSc degree in Soil and rural engineering.

He wrote different projects and in-service reports on food security and food systems and published a couple of scientific papers in different peer review international journals (Field Crops Research, Scientia Horticulturae, Nutrient Cycling in Agroecosystems, Agriculture Ecosystems & Environment and Journal of Applied Biosciences).
