Baseline study of HIV-AIDS in Rwanda Final Report

Abstract:

HIV/AIDS is one of the world’s most disastrous calamities of the 20th century. In just about a quarter century of its discovery, HIV/AIDS has killed more than 20 million people, mostly productive women and men, making it a major roadblock to poverty reduction and development. Sub-Saharan Africa, where Rwanda is situated, has adisproportionate share of the AIDS pandemic and its impacts – home to about twothirds of people living with HIV/AIDS and four-fifths of AIDS orphans. And in 2005, about 86% of AIDS related deaths in 2005 were in Sub-Saharan Africa.
