Clarisse Musanabaganwa is a clinical epidemiologist and Biotechnologist by training currently pursuing her PhD studies in epigenetics and bioinformatics with a research focus on epidemiology and omics of neuropsychiatric disorders as well as other chronic diseases primally cancer and cardiovascular diseases where she is leading different projects as a PI and reviewer of scientific journals. She is occupying the position of Medical Research Analyst at Rwanda Biomedical Center since January 2021 where she was promoted to technically lead and coordinate the national medical research projects at national level. She has occupied a position of Director of Rwanda Medical Research Center in Rwanda Biomedical Center within the Ministry of Health for more than 7 years (2014- December 2020) where She held responsibilities of Coordinating health research projects, promotion of research and development and evidence-based health care in the country. Clarisse is also an affiliate of the center of human genetics at the University of Rwanda and a fellow for Next Generation Scientist at Novartis/Switzerland.
She has more than 10 years of experience in coordination and technical management of Health sector research projects development, implementation at national and international level. Besides, she holds responsibilities of supporting the Ministry of Health in streamlining research regulatory frameworks that is conducive to medical research environment as well as establishing strategies that attract International Pharma/Biotech industries to conduct clinical trials in Rwanda by connecting them with appropriate country resources. She was appointed as the National Focal Point of East Africa Health Research Commission Activities and as the chair of national district research challenge fund.
