The Maternal, Child, and Community Health (MCCH) Division has a mandate of coordinating all health interventions and initiatives related to maternal and child health in Rwanda. This includes Community Health Worker activities, reproductive health, and gender-based violence.
The MCCH Division is entitled to develop policies and guidelines related to RMNCAH, oversees their implementation through capacity building, mentorship, monitoring and evaluation for health facilities and community health related interventions.
The Health Facility Program unit deals with maternal and child health related activities and interventions in health facilities. This is coordinated under the following sub-programs: Maternal and Newborn Health, Child health, Family Planning, Gender Based Violence, Death Audit Program, Mentorship Program and Monitoring and Evaluation.
The Vaccine Preventable Disease Program unit deals with everything related to vaccination in Rwanda, including routine vaccination, vaccine and vaccine devices supply chain.
The Community Health Program unit deals with maternal and child health related activities and interventions done in villages by Community Health Workers. This is coordinated under the following sub-programs: Maternal and Child Community Health, Nutrition Services, Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health, Community Based Provision of Family Planning and Supply Chain of Commodities.
To improve women, newborn and child health by providing an environment where unwanted pregnancies are avoided, women go through pregnancy and childbirth safely, their newborns are born alive and healthy and where children grow and develop to their full potential, thereby fulfilling their role in the socio-economic development of Rwanda. .
