Kigali May 4, 2022. The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the University of Rwanda and other key stakeholders launch 13 new medical training programs including fellowships to sustain the quality of teaching of students both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The event takes place at Kigali Convention Centre.
The National Strategy for Health Professions Development 2030 plans for ten fellowship programs to be launched progressively by 2024. It is in this context that the University of Rwanda -college of Medicine and Health Sciences applied for accreditation of the new medical training programs.
The University of Rwanda initiated curricula development for 13 medical training programs of which 7 are fellowships, 4 residencies, 1 MSC and 1 PHD. Currently, all the 13 programs have been approved by the Higher Education Council to start training.
The approved programs are Adult and Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship, Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship, Gynecology Oncology Fellowship, Nephrology Fellowship, Endocrinology Fellowship, Maternal-fetal Medicine Fellowship, Pediatric Surgery Residency, Neurology, Plastic surgery Residency, Dermatology Residency, Master of Science in Clinical Anatomy and Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Anatomy.
