The government of China has donated emergency medical supplies to help Rwanda in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The supplies include; protective face masks for medical use, surgical masks, disposable protective clothing, infrared thermometers, medical protective goggles, disposable sterilized rubber surgical gloves and medical isolation cover shoes.
\nThe medical equipment were handed over by the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda and the Ministry of Health expressed gratitude towards China\u2019s generosity and said the help came in at the right time.
\n\u201cWe are happy with what China is doing. With the first 30,000 test kits donated by the Alibaba Foundation owned by a Chinese national Jack Ma, we were able to plan the COVID-19 national response,\u201d said the Minister of Health, Dr. Daniel Ngamije.
\n\u201cWe were able to conduct a community survey countrywide to rule out any hidden community transmission and the results were good, not a single case tested positive,\u201d added the Minister.
\nRao Hongwei the ambassador of China to Rwanda said that the donated materials show his country\u2019s determination and solidarity with Rwanda.
\n\u201cAt the trying times, China relates deeply to Rwanda\u2019s difficulties and the Chinese people stand firm with the Rwandan people as the virus knows no borders, so does love,\u201d said Ambassador Hongwei .
\nThe ambassador hailed Rwanda\u2019s COVID-19 rigorous prevention and control measures.
\n\u201cSince the outbreak of COVID-19, Rwanda took comprehensive prevention and control measures altering the dangerous course of the virus\u2019 quick spread and more recoveries have been registered. These achievements deserve respect and congratulations,\u201d commended the Ambassador.
